Activism Is Not Terrorism

Loujain AlHathloul is on trial and facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for her activism.

Loujain AlHathloul is on trial in Saudi Arabia at the Specialised Criminal (terrorism) court for her activism. Loujain has been in pre-trial detention for nearly three years and during that time has been tortured (to include) electrocuted, waterboarded and sexually assaulted. The absurd charges against her include: Applying for a job at the United Nations, calling for the end of the oppressive male guardianship system, contacting international organisations (Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch), speaking about her detention and supporting Saudi human rights movements.

In addition to these absurd charges, the prosecution changed the charges from March 2019 and deleted connections with foreign governments that were on Loujain’s original charge sheet. To see all the changes made please visit our website here. The prosecution is calling for the maximum sentence for Loujain under Article 38 - 20 years in prison.

We are asking for all of you to take action by following the action steps listed on the website in addition to joining the #FreeLoujain campaign on Wednesday 16 Dec at 1am ET/7am CET and throughout the day to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Loujain AlHathloul.
